Google apparently have been clamping down on paid links in recent years, but now it seems they may also take stance against blog reviews made in exchange for free gifts!

Only if that were not heard of this, a recent popular strategy for the website to offer a free gift in return for bloggers review and link to a product. This appears to be treated differently from paid blog reviews by many people to accept that this is a tactic considered acceptable by Google.

I can understand why Google will treat these types of examinations in the same way as a paid blog post, but he almost certainly will be very difficult to police. Google will have to ensure that they only punish websites, where the sole intention of offering a free gift is to obtain a product review backlink, otherwise how can make the difference between this and Christmas gifts?

So what do we do now?
I think this is a relatively safe bet that if you rely on a kind of strategy to build the link (whether through directories, articles, reviews or blog), which is likely to create a profile that appears unnatural backlink for search engines. To have widespread combination of different types link is much more likely to have a positive impact on search rankings. Although completely speculative, it is possible that Google will be more lenient if paid links account for only a small percentage of the total reference, perhaps as a result of paid links are devalued ranking penalty instead apply.
